How to run a live demo on a prospect's site

6 min read

Key takeaway: The demo is the product. Your job is to set it up, then shut up.

Before you call

Generate a tailored demo link from your affiliate dashboard:

  1. Sign into /dashboard/affiliate.
  2. In "Send a prospect a tailored demo," type their domain (e.g. acmeroofers.co.uk).
  3. Copy the link. It looks like foan.me/r/<your-code>/demo/acmeroofers.co.uk.
  4. The link does two things at once: tracks the click to you for attribution, and pre-loads their website into the demo flow.

On the call — the setup

When they say "go on then":

"Right — pull up your phone or laptop. Type in foan.me. You'll see a box that says 'paste your website URL.' Paste yours in. Hit the call button."

You can also send them your tailored link directly via SMS — they tap once, no typing.

What they're about to see

  1. Foan reads their website (takes about 8 seconds — they see "scanning your site…").
  2. The demo screen flips to a phone-call interface.
  3. The AI agent picks up and greets them using their business name and a tone matched to their industry.
  4. They have a real conversation. They can ask anything from their site — services, pricing, opening hours.

What they should ask (prompt them)

"Try asking it about your prices. Ask about your opening hours. Ask if you do emergency callouts. Ask anything you'd expect a customer to ask."

The goal: they hear the agent answer their actual questions with their actual information.

Watch their face

The reaction is almost always the same:

  • 5 seconds in: "Oh, weird, it knows my prices."
  • 15 seconds in: laughing, maybe shocked.
  • 30 seconds in: "How is it doing this."
  • 60 seconds in: they're trying to break it. "What if I asked something stupid."

That last beat is gold. It means they're invested.

When they hang up

"Honest reaction?"

Stop talking. Whatever they say — you've already won. Now move to the close.

What to demo if they're not ready for the URL

For prospects who haven't built a website yet (rare but happens):

  • Show them /foan on the site — the public page where they call our home agent.
  • Or show them a competitor's demo from your library.

You'll keep three or four pre-recorded demo clips on your phone for moments when their wifi's flaky.

Common stumbles

Their website is paywalled or login-gated. The agent won't have anything to read. Workaround: tell them to give the demo a few sample sentences about what they do, in the demo prompt box.

Wrong language picked up. If their site is in Welsh / French / Spanish, the demo defaults to English. Tell them to ignore that — production agents support 10+ languages.

Demo conversation goes off-script. Sometimes prospects ask questions the AI doesn't know the answer to. The AI says: "I don't have that information yet — let me get someone to call you back." That's a feature, not a bug. Praise it as the right behaviour.

Key line to deliver after the demo

"That's the worst version of the agent. After 30 minutes of setup it has your full pricing, your refund policy, your booking calendar — it's better than this."

This is true and it sets expectations correctly. The demo is a free preview, not the final product.
