The Pitch

Pitching Foan to local businesses

6 min read

If you sell digital marketing, web design, paid ads, or SEO to local businesses, you already know the problem: cold outreach is brutal, retainers are sticky once you land them, but landing one in the first place is the bottleneck.

Foan changes this. It is the cheapest, fastest way to put a real, useful, paid product in a local business owner's hands. Once they have it, you have a relationship. Once you have a relationship, the retainer conversation is much easier.

The wedge

Open with the missed-call calculator. Either show them the live calculator at <your-slug>.foan.me/missed-call-calculator or do the maths in your head.

"You are a [niche]. Average ticket [X]. You probably miss [Y] calls a week. That is [X * Y * 4] a month walking out the door. Foan answers all of them for £49."

Most local business owners have never thought about missed calls in pounds. Once they do, the conversation changes. They are not buying software. They are buying recovered revenue.

Why this is the right wedge for an agency

  • Low risk for them. £49 a month with a free trial. Every business owner can say yes to that.
  • Fast time-to-value. They see calls being answered within hours of signup. Nothing else you sell delivers value that fast.
  • Recurring for you. 30% of £49 = £14.70/month. Twenty clients = £294/month from a product that took you an hour each to set up.
  • Door-opener for the retainer. Once you have a paying relationship and they trust you, your "we should also redo your website / run paid ads / fix your SEO" conversation is no longer cold.

The script

Ten minute call. Three beats:

  1. Three minutes of credibility. "I work with local [niche] businesses on growth. I have noticed most of you are losing thousands a month in missed calls without realising. Can I show you the maths for your business?"
  2. Five minutes of math-the-pain. Use the calculator. Keep it specific to their business. Real numbers, not hand-wavy ones. "You are missing about [Y] calls a week. At your average ticket of [X], that is [X * Y * 4] a month. The fix is [pause] £49."
  3. Two minutes of close. "I can have you set up tonight. Works on your existing number. You will hear it answer your phone within an hour. If you do not love it after a week, I unplug it. No charge."

Most no's are price ("we cannot afford anything right now"). Counter: "It is £49. You are losing more than that this afternoon."

Where Foan fits in your offer ladder

Think of Foan as the £49-£499/month entry product on a ladder that goes up to £2k+ retainers:

Tier What you sell Monthly
1 Foan Starter setup £49
2 Foan + custom prompts + integrations £200-£500
3 Foan + GMB + reviews + landing pages £1k-£2k
4 Full local-marketing retainer with Foan inside £2k-£10k

You do not have to climb the ladder fast. Just landing them on tier 1 puts you in conversations they would not otherwise have with you. Most of your tier 3 and 4 clients in twelve months will be tier 1 clients you converted upward over time.
